A 39-year-old Napa-area transient was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after an alleged fight with a woman on the Napa River path north of 500 Lincoln Ave.

Mark Allen was taken into custody on Oct. 18 at about 5 p.m.

Napa Police, in a posting today, Oct. 22, said that officers responded  to a possible domestic violence on the river path, north of 500 Lincoln Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and contacted the woman, who had visible injuries that did not need immediate medical attention.

The woman stated she had got into an argument with Harris outside of his encampment near the Napa River.

She told police he moved toward her aggressively while on his bicycle. The woman used her walking cane and struck his bicycle to stop the advancement.

Harris got off his bicycle and allegedly grabbed the victim by the face and placed her into a headlock, police said.

Harris released her after several minutes. The woman told Harris that she would call the police if he did that again.

Harris grabbed the victim again and placed her into a headlock, police said. This time the woman began to cry and Harris let her go and left the area, riding his bicycle southbound on the river trail.

As other officers arrived in the area, they located Harris and took him into custody for domestic violence. He was booked.
