POLICE: Napa Man Held on Suspicion of Cruelty to Child, DUI

More arrests over Labor Day weekend.

A 29-year-old Napa man was arrested Sunday evening on suspicion of willful cruelty to a child, DUI and driving without a license.

Ernesto Romero was taken into custody at 5:17 p.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Cooper Court in Napa.

The incident began when Napa Dispatch received a complaint that a drunk driver had just left the 2700 block of Cooper Court.

The complainant reported that the driver, Ernesto Romero, just left the complex in a white Ford Fusion. Romero was just involved in an argument at this location and left with his 5-year-old daughter in the vehicle. 

Dispatch learned that Romero lived in the 1600 block of Menlo. Officers responded to this location and found Romero walking with his daughter into his residence. Officers did not locate the vehicle, but did locate a truck owned by Romero.

Officers contacted Romero at his residence. He admitted to being at the Cooper Court address and admitted to driving himself and his daughter back to their residence in his truck, not a Ford Fusion.

As officers spoke with Romero, they noticed he displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Romero was evaluated by the officers and it was determined that Romero was impaired while driving himself and his daughter.

Romero was arrested and booked at Napa County Department of Corrections.

A 25-year-old Napa man was arrested early Monday on suspicion of domestic violence.

Arturo Rodgriguez was taken into custody at 1:40 a.m. at a home in the 1800 block of F Street in Napa, police said.

According to police, the victim told a friend that his domestic partner, Arturo Rodriguez, had hit him several times in the face, leaving visible injury that did require immediate medical attention. 

Rodriguez was contacted by the officer at his residence in the 1800 block of F Street and admitted to hitting his partner. 

Rodriguez was arrested and booked.

A 30-year-old Napa man was arrested Monday on suspicion of robbery, spousal battery and destroying a cell phone.

Oscar Vasquez was taken into custody at about 6 p.m. at a home in the 1100 block of Silverado Trail in Napa.

According to police, the victim and Vazquez live together in the 1100 block of Silverado Trail.  The victim alleged that Vazquez slapped her twice with an opened hand. 

He also took her phone and threw it when she said she was going to call the police. 

The victim also said Vazquez took $1,125 from her as well. 

Officers contacted Vazquez at his residence and he denied hitting the victim, but did admit to throwing the phone and taking some money.

Vazquez was arrested and booked.

A 23-year-old Napa man was arrested Monday on suspicion of domestic violence.

Jose Manuel Ildefonso was taken into custody at about 9:30 p.m at a home in the  200 block of Brown Street in Napa.

According to police, Ildefonso is going through a divorce with his wife; however they are still living together. 

They got into an argument and Ildefonso attempted to drag the victim from the residence. The victim resisted in self-defense and struck the Ildefonso in the face in an attempt to get away. 

As a result of the struggle the victim cut her hand, which did not require immediate medical attention.

Ildefonso was contacted at his residence in the 200 block of Brown Street, at which time he was arrested and booked.

A 36-year-old Napa-area transient was arrested late Monday on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.

Salvador Lopez was taken into custody just after 10 p.m. at a home in the  
1000 block of Pear Tree Lane in Napa.

An officer observed and contacted Salvador Lopez as he was trespassing at a vacant residence in the 1000 block of Pear Tree Lane.

Lopez consented to a search and was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.  He was also found in possession of suspected stolen tools. 

He was arrested and booked.
