Police Ram Assault Suspect’s Mustang, Ending Chase

A Napa police officer used his patrol vehicle to forcibly end a car chase that began after a woman was heard screaming for help in northwest Napa Sunday afternoon, according to a press release from the :
On 10-9-11 at approximately 1557 hours, the Napa Police Department responded to a report (of) suspicious circumstances in the area of Linda Vista Ave and West Pueblo Ave.
Responding officers were advised by Dispatch that a female could be heard screaming and that she may have been assaulted with a knife.

Officers were soon updated that suspect Brian Bowers was leaving the area in a blue Ford Mustang.
Responding officers located suspect Brian Bowers fleeing the area in the Ford Mustang. Bowers evaded police and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Bowers was driving recklessly with no regard to other citizens on the roadway.

Bowers swerved at a responding officer’s patrol unit nearly colliding with it.
Another responding officer observed Bowers’ reckless driving and the near collision with a patrol vehicle.
The officer used lawful intervention and collided with Bower’s vehicle ending the pursuit without further incident on Solano Ave near Coffield Ave.
Bowers, 46, of Santa Rosa, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and evading police, according to the press release. He was booked at the .
