Police: Meth Suspect Resists Arrest in Napa

Augustin Barrayo Martinez, 28, was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of possessing drugs and paraphernalia, being under the influence, giving a false name and resisting an officer, Napa police said. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Resistance was futile for a 28-year-old Napa man who was jailed in the first hour of Thursday on suspicion of several charges after an officer stopped him near First Street and Freeway Drive, according to a shift activity log from the : 

On 08/09/12 about 0021 hours an NPD Officer contacted the suspect, Augustin Barrayo Martinez 28 years old of Napa, in the area of 1st. St./ Freeway Dr.

Martinez displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He provided a false name to the Officer.

Martinez resisted the Officer while being arrested. A search of Martinez’s person revealed suspected methamphetamine and a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe.

Martinez was assimilated at the on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, providing false information to a peace officer and resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer, police said.
