Police Log: Vehicle Theft Stymied by Witness

Pedestrian heard breaking glass and saw suspect carrying woman's purse

At around 7:20 pm yesterday, a citizen walking in the area of 1st and Seminary west of downtown when she heard a glass breaking noise.

When she came around the corner, she observed a subject walking away from a parked vehicle carrying a women’s purse and other items.

A vehicle at the corner had the window smashed.

The witness lost sight of the suspect went to the and contacted Sgt. Hensley who was leaving the station. She provided a description and the suspect, Timothy Maillard, was located a few blocks away. The witness ID’d the suspect.

Initially, he refused to say what he did with the property, but finally agreed to tell where it was. The purse and a brief case were located in the creek bed off Seminary. Other items were found behind a dumpster at Safeway.
