Police Log: High Speed Pursuit, Assault with Bite Marks, 2 Women Fight at Bar

Napa police make multiple arrests over the weekend.

 

A 30-year-old Napa man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of DUI, probabtion violation, evading a peace officer and driving with a suspended license.

David Matthew Vasquez Jr. was taken into custoy at 10:28 p.m. Friday on Old Sonoma Road and Roosevelt Street in Napa.

According to the police log, the Napa Special Enforcement Unit attempted to make a traffic stop on suspect David Vasquez in the area of Roosevelt Street and Pine Street for several vehicle code violations on Friday at 10:28 p.m.. Vasquez was driving a white 2002 Nissan Altima 4-door.

Police said Vasquez failed to yield to officers, resulting in a low speed pursuit. Patrol units assumed the low speed pursuit. Vasquez took officers through the neighborhood south of Old Sonoma Road and eventually made it to Hunt Street and Imola Avenue, where he stopped briefly before engaging officers in a high speed pursuit through the city of Napa.

Vasquez drove recklessly at a high rate of speed for approximately four to five minutes and covered 4.3 miles. Vasquez was making erratic lane changes causing motorist to take evasive action, ran stop lights and stop signs before losing officers in the area of Yajome Street and Pueblo Avenue.

Dispatch provided officers the registered owner’s address in the 3500 Block of Villa Lane. Officers converged on the apartment complex and located the white Nissan parked in the parking lot. Officers immediately contacted the register owner and determined Vasquez was the driver of the vehicle. Officers on scene had prior contacts with Vasquez, where he was found to be in possession of a small caliber handgun.

Officers discovered Vasquez was in a family member’s apartment within the complex. Officers set a perimeter and surrounded the apartment. Officers called into the apartment and Vasquez surrendered without incident.

Officers involved in the pursuit identified Vasquez as the driver of the white Nissan. Vasquez was placed under arrest for felony evading a police officer, DUI, driving on a suspended license, and violation of probation. Vasquez was later booked at the Napa County Jail.

Later on Friday, at 11:38 p.m., police arrested a 49-year-old Nevada City woman on suspicion of domestic violence with minor injury.

Lynette Marie Weiss was taken into custody at Clay and Monroe streets in Napa.

According to the police log, officers checked a vehicle that was parked in the middle of the road on Monroe Street just south of Clay Street. Officers contacted Lynette Weiss, who sitting in the driver’s seat.

The vehicle was not running and the keys were not in the ignition. Weiss indicated that she was visiting Napa with the victim. While driving back to their hotel, she and victim got into an altercation. The victim stopped the car and left the area with the keys to the car.

Officers located the victim a short distance from the car. He had several small cuts and bite marks on his person. He indicated that Weiss had attacked him while he was driving. Weiss put the vehicle in park as he was driving from Clay Street to Monroe Street. The vehicle stopped almost instantly. The victim said he exited the vehicle and walked away to get away from Weiss.

Weiss was arrested and transported to Napa County Department of Correction where she was booked.

A 35-year-old Napa woman was arrested Sunday after police allege that she got into a fight with another woman and smashed a drink glass into her face.

Ana Rosa Avina was taken into custody at 1:17 a.m. at Downtown Joe's, 902 Main St., Napa.

 

According to the police log, officers responded to the 902 Main St.  address regarding a reported fight involving two females.

One of the females was bleeding from the face and was located outside the business. Dispatch advised the responsible female was walking away from the bar on Second Street.

The responsible was described as a Hispanic female wearing a pink sweatshirt and a tattoo of a star on her face. Napa Sheriff deputies responded to the area and located the responsible female, identified by California Drivers License as  S-Ana Avina, on Second Street at Brown Street.

A witness reportedly told polie he saw the victim and Avina arguing at a table near the front door. He estimated the two argued for approximately eight to 10 seconds before he saw Avina smash a beer glass into the victim’s face.

After Avina struck the victim, she fled the business westbound on Second Street with a Hispanic male adult. He followed Avina and the male up Second Street until Sheriff deputies stopped her.

Avina was arrested and booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.

The victim was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for facial lacerations. No further medical information was available.
