Police Log: Assaults, Arrests in Napa

Arrest information from the Napa Police Department does not indicate convictions.

Shift activity logs released by the this week record a series of violent altercations, including two domestic violence assaults and a brawl involving members of a mariachi band.

After a reported assault early Sunday morning, a 20-year-old Napa man was arrested Monday for robbery, domestic violence, violation of probation and damaging or disabling a phone when a victim is calling 911, according to police:

On 071711 at approximately 0301 hours Officers were dispatched to the South Napa Market Place parking lot for a report of a domestic violence incident that had just occurred. The victim had visible injuries and alleged that the suspect (S) Camacho, Oscar (20 of Napa) had kicked and punched her multiple times. The victim told the suspect she was going to call 911. The suspect took the phone away from the victim by force and disabled the phone. The suspect was contacted on 071811 at the Napa Police Department and was arrested.

A 43-year-old Vallejo man faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault with great bodily injury after a fight Sunday afternoon that left both victim and suspect wounded, according to police:

On 7-17-2011 at 1730 hours, the suspect, Edward David Baker 9-29-67, out of Vallejo was at a residence in the 100 block of Winding Way. The victim arrived at the same residence while Baker was talking to a female outside. Baker assaulted the victim by hitting him in the face with a bottle, and choking him. The victim retaliated by hitting the suspect in the back of the head with a bottle while he was being choked, causing a large avulsion injury. The victim suffered fractures in his face from being hit with the bottle. The suspect was booked at NCDC after medical treatment.

Police were also called to quell a fight outside a Mexican restaurant Sunday night, according to the log:

On 7-17-2011 at 2130 hours, officers responded to a fight at the Rancho Grande restaurant on Jefferson. A victim was located who had been hit in the head with a fire extinguisher and was unconscious. Witnesses said that several members of a mariachi band had been in an argument with the victim and that one of them punched the victim followed by another subject, not in the band, striking the subject in the face with a large fire extinguisher. The responsible parties got into a small car and left the lot. They were spotted a short time later on Hwy 221 and stopped. A witness identified the subject who punched the victim, but the suspect with the fire extinguisher was not among those in the car. Two of the responsible parties were transported to NPD and were being questioned. Names not available at time of press log. 

A 33-year-old Napa man was arrested Monday afternoon for domestic violence and parole violation, police said:

On 071811 at approximately 1648 hours Officers went to the 1400 block of Brown Street for a report of an incident of domestic violence. Officers arrived and met with the victim. The victim alleged she was strangled and punched in the face causing a visible injury.  (S) Ritter, Eugene (33 of Napa) is on parole and was contacted at another location, while officers were still on scene with the victim. Ritter was arrested.
