POLICE LOG: Counterfeiting at Kohl's, Skateboard, Jacket Stolen

Police log over the past week of December 2013.

Two Napans were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, making threats and probation violation.

Annie Rose Lieber, 24, and Michael Lewis Simmons, 21, were taken into custody just before 9 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 1200 block of First Street in Napa.

According to the police log, an officer was dispatched to a report of a theft that had occurred in the area of the 1200 block of First Street.

The officer arrived on scene and contacted the victim of the theft. The man stated he was sitting with a friend nearby when he saw Lieber, Simmons and an unidentified make walking his way.

The man was assaulted by Lieber and Simmons a few weeks prior. After they had walked past the man, Lieber stopped and made threats to harm the man, police said.

The man became fearful and pulled a knife from his pocket to protect himself. Simmons saw the knife and began to threaten the man.

Avoiding any confrontation, the man walked away from the area, leaving his friend.

Shortly after leaving, the man realized he left his skateboard and jacket. The man then texted his friend asking him to retrieve his skateboard and jacket.

The friend called the victim back and stated Lieber and Simmons had stolen the skateboard and jacket. The officer contacted the friend who stated that he attempted to stop Simmons and Lieber from taking the skateboard and jacket by grabbing the items.

Lieber told Simmons to take the items. Simmons grabbed the items and a struggle ensued. Feeling outnumbered and fearful of Simmons, Lieber and the unidentified male, the friend let go of the items.

Simmons and Lieber took the jacket and skateboard and walked away. As the officer was speaking with the man and his friend, the unidentified male was walking in the area when the man and his friend pointed this individual out to the officer.

This person was contacted by the officer. He told the officer that he knows Lieber and Simmons. He also stated that Lieber and Simmons had confronted the man and threatened him. He also stated that Simmons had taken the skateboard and jacket from the man’s friend.

After walking away, Simmons threw the man’s skateboard over a chain link fence near the Buckhorn Restaurant. Simmons then took this person’s skateboard form him and rode away without permission.

The man’s skateboard was located behind the chain link fence near the Buckhorn Restaurant and was recovered and returned to the victim. An area check was conducted for Lieber and Simmons.

Both subjects were located by officers near the Pearl Street garage. Simmons and Lieber were taken into custody.

A search of a vehicle driven by Lieber that was parked in the Pearl Street garage resulted in officers finding the second skateboard in the back seat.

Simmons and Lieber were booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.
