POLICE: Drug Possession, Suspended License

Several arrests by Napa Police over the weekend.

A 19-year-old Napa-area transient was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of marijuana possession and transport for sale and probation violation.

Angel Jesus Olea was taken into custody at about 11 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Adrian Street and Central Avenue in Napa.

Police said an officer pulled over a 1999 Honda Civic near the intersection of Adrian Street and Central Street as the vehicle’s brake lights did not work.

When the officer contacted the driver, he could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When the officer asked about the marijuana, the right front passenger, later identified as Angel Olea, allegedly admitted they had a small quantity.

He then removed a small baggie containing suspected marijuana from a compartment within the vehicle.

Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and located a backpack belonging to Olea. Inside the backpack, officers found a glass jar filled with marijuana (approx. 13.4 grams) as well as a plastic container of suspected hashish oil.

Olea told the officer he had a bad knee and obtained a medical marijuana card. He also told the officers he bought the marijuana and hashish oil from a medical marijuana club in Vallejo.

Due to Olea possessing more marijuana than what he normally consumes in the course of a day and the fact that hashish is not allowed under California law, Olea was taken into custody and booked.
