Police: 5 Injured, Dad Arrested in Napa Stabbings

Sunday's late-night melee broke out after Ignacio Sanchez, 23, attacked the mother of his child and friends and family intervened, according to Napa police. One stabbing victim was airlifted, three others treated at the Queen. Sanchez also was hurt.

A 23-year-old Napa man identified as Ignacio Sanchez was arrested in the hour before midnight Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder, domestic violence and possession of an assault weapon after a melee on Pueblo Avenue that left five people, including Sanchez, injured, according to a press release from the 's investigations desk:

Sanchez went to the residence of the mother of his child for purposes of returning their child from a visit. 

An argument ensued that turned physical with Sanchez assaulting the female victim.

Several of the victims’ friends and family intervened in the assault and sustained stab wounds.

 A 19 yr old Napa resident was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial via medical helicopter for treatment of serious injuries.

A 22 yr old Napa resident was transported to QVH for treatment of his injuries and was subsequently admitted to ICU. 

A 18yr old Napa resident was transported to QVH for treatment of his injuries and was subsequently admitted. 

The female victim was transported to QVH for treatment of her injuries and was subsequently admitted. 

The injuries sustained by all parties are not life threatening.

Sanchez was also treated for injuries he sustained during the incident and was booked at Napa County Department of Corrections.

Investigators served a search warrant related to the investigation in the 2200 block of Clay St, and recovered an illegal assault weapon.

The investigation is still on going and the Napa Police Department is seeking witnesses to the incident.

The stabbings took place in the 1300 block of Pueblo Avenue, police said. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
