Photos Show Battle for Burning Home

Firefighters were unable to save the dwelling on Linda Vista Tuesday afternoon. Nobody was home, but at least one rat took to the water to escape the flames.

Fire crews battling a house fire in the 3100 block of Linda Vista Avenue Tuesday afternoon were unable to save the structure.

CalFire and the responded to the blaze at around 3 p.m.

According to a report in the , the home's owner is a nursing home resident.

Although nobody was home at the time of the blaze, a rat that appeared to have some burns was found clinging to a piece of wood in the swimming pool.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
