Pedestrian Killed On Hwy. 37 Near Napa River Bridge

Traffic backed up in both directions, CHP says.

 BY BAY CITY NEWS SERVICE

A pedestrian was killed by a car on state Highway 37 near Mare Island this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported at 2:58 p.m. on eastbound Highway 37 just west of the Napa River Bridge.

CHP Officer Ron Simmons said it appears a pedestrian was outside a car parked on the road's shoulder when another vehicle struck the victim.

The coroner is being contacted about the incident, Simmons said.

Eastbound lanes are open but traffic is backed up in both directions in that area, he said. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
