One Dead in Hwy 80 Solo-Car Crash on Napa-Solano County Line Today

Some lane closings. Coroner called. This marks the fourth fatal accident this week in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties.

One person was killed in a solo accident on Interstate Highway 80 near American Canyon on the Napa-Solano County border this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The incident was reported at 9:18 a.m. on eastbound I-80 near American Canyon Road, according to the CHP.

A Sig-alert was issued at 9:49 a.m. One eastbound lane is expected to remain closed until at least 11 a.m., CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.

Only one car was involved in a crash and it appears there were no other people in the car, Anderson said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene after reportedly crossing from the westbound direction onto eastbound lanes, Anderson said.

A coroner has been called to the scene.

Within Solano, Napa and Sonoma counties, this Friday morning accident in the American Canyon area is the fourth fatal crash this week.

A Napa Woman, 26, was killed Tuesday in a head-on crash on Silverado Trail, that sent two others to the hospital.

And a Healdsburg woman, 50, died in a solo-vehicle crash Wednesday near Geyserville.

On Saturday, a Rohnert Park man, 30, rear-ended a car, killing two women in the back seat and was arrested for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
