Off-Duty Napa Cop Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

An off-duty Napa police officer was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of DUI, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Sean Ulitin, 37, of Napa, was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 south on Monticello Road north of Vichy Avenue in unincorporated Napa County around 9:40 p.m. when he made an unsafe turning movement and lost control of the truck, CHP officials said in an accident report.

The truck went off of the west side of Monticello Road, struck a large tree, rolled over and struck a parked 2000 Volkswagen, according to the CHP.

Ulitin's truck landed on its roof and the Volkswagen was pushed into the southeast corner of a residence, CHP officials said.

Residents at the scene helped Ulitin out of the truck and tried to give him first aid for the minor injuries he suffered in the crash, according to the CHP.

The residents also tried to get Ulitin to stay at the scene until emergency crews arrived but Ulitin left the scene on foot, CHP officials said.

One of the residents followed Ulitin and notified the CHP of his location just north of the scene.

He was then arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center, according to the CHP.

The Napa Police Department referred all calls about the arrest to the CHP this morning.
