POLICE LOG: Sex Offender Fails to Register, Burglary, Samurai Sword Threat

Napa Police keep busy.

 

A 39-year-old Napa man was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender and violating probation.

Jason Russell Burr, described as being a transient, was taken into custody at 1531 Third St. Napa.

Police said Burr is a registered sex offender and per his registration requirements, he must update his personal information with law enforcement on an annual basis within five days of his birthday.

Burr was required to register by 3/4/2013 and failed to comply. Burr is also currently on probation in Napa County.

On 3/20/2013 at 11:50 a.m., an officer saw Burr walking in the area of 1531 Third St.

The officer contacted and arrested Burr for failing to comply with registration requirements, as well as violating his probation. Burr was booked into Napa County Department of Correction.

A 31 year old Fairfield man was arrested at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of resisting or obstructing police and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Nicholas Steven Cornwell was taken into custody in the 4000 block of Maher Street, Napa.

Officers were dispatched to Justin Siena High School after faculty reported a suspicious male carrying a box on campus. 

The male acted suspiciously when contacted by staff and refused to state why he was on campus or to identify what was in the box (It was later determined the box contained documents belonging to Cornwell).

Officers arrived on campus and encountered Nicholas Cornwell.  Cornwell fled on foot, but was caught quickly. Cornwell was under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested.

Officers also learned that Cornwell also had a felony warrant for violation of post release supervision.

Cornwell was booked into Napa County Department of Corrections

A 20-year-old Napa woman was arrested at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday after police said she allegedly threatened a roommate with a samurai sword.

Crysal Ellis was taken into custody at the 200 block of Hartle Court in Napa on suspicion of threatening a crime with intent to terrorize.

Officers responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Hartle Ct., regarding a disturbance report. While en route, Dispatch advised that a female suspect had threatened her roommate and his friend with a samurai sword. The reporting party advised the female suspect was a roommate of the male subject and his friend, who were hiding in a bedroom

As officers arrived on scene, the suspect, Crystal Ellis, exited the apartment holding a knife. Ellis was ordered to drop the knife and she complied. Ellis was taken into custody without further incident.

The victim told officers that his roommate, Ellis, had threaten during an argument. Ellis threaten (verbal only) to cut the victim with a samurai sword. The victim felt threatened and locked himself in his bedroom and called police.

Ellis was booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.

A 39-year-old Napa man was arrested at 5:16 a.m. Thursday after he allegedly stole a beer from the Flyers Gas Station at 1300 Trancas St., Napa.

Nathaniel Robert Britz was taken into custody on suspicion of shoplifting and obstruction and resisting police.

According to police, Britz entered the Flyers gas station and asked the clerk if he would call police if he, Britz, took a beer.

The clerk told the Britz, "yes," he would call the police. Brtiz went to the beer cooler and took a 32 oz. bottle of beer and walked out of the store without paying for it. The clerk called the police and gave them a description of Britz.

An officer arrived in the area and located Britz walking in the area of 1000 Trancas Street.

The suspect walked towards the officer’s vehicle with his thumbs pressed against his temples, and his fingers were pointing straight up like he had horns.

As the officer exited his vehicle and he could hear the Britz saying, "this is not my head, this is not my head."

When Britz got within 20 feet from the officer’s vehicle, he started turning in circles. At one point the suspect said his name was "Jedi Bottlerocket."

Britz was asked several several times to sit on the ground, but he just continued to talk irrationally. At one point, Britz told the officer to take off his glasses and to turn off his flashlight or he was going to charge him.

Other officers arrived on scene to assist. Britz was given several commands to but his hands behind his back, but he did not comply.

Officers moved in and physically controlled Britz by taking him to the ground and handcuffing him. Britz was taken to Napa County Department of Corrections where he was booked.
