2 Nabbed in Vallejo After Early A.M. Police Pursuit Through Napa

21-year-old Vallejo man, 28-year-old transient taken into custody.

 

Two men were taken into custody early Friday after a pursuit through Napa involving both Napa police and Napa County Sheriff's deputies.

Gerald Robert Brown Jr., 21, of Vallejo and James Craig Rivas, 28, a transient, were arrested in Vallejo after the incident that begain at 3:40 a.m. in the vicinity of Atlas Peak and Monticello roads in Napa, police said.

They were held on suspion of  felony vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, evading a police officer with wanton disregard for safety and driving without a license.

The incident began when Napa Police officers were advised by dispatch of a recent stolen vehicle (Honda Civic) last seen travelling westbound on Monticello Avenue towards Napa.

A short time later, the stolen the vehicle passed an officer westbound on Monticello Avenue, police said.

The stolen vehicle fails to stop and a vehicle pursuit is initiated.

Officers pursue the vehicle, which is occupied by two subjects, through Napa until it gets onto Highway 29 southbound from Trancas Street.

Napa Sheriff deputies attempt to assist by using the SPIKE strips south of Highway 221, but the attempt fails.

Deputies takes over the pursuit in American Canyon and the occupants are taken into custody in Vallejo (Hiddenbrooke Parkway) after the vehicle pulls into a dead-end street.

Officers arrest the driver, James Craig Rivas, and the passenger, Gerald Robert Brown.
