Napa Fire Capt. Steve Becker said the off-duty firefighters have been called back in, and they may be helpng to get control of the blaze, burning on 2-3 acres.

He said there was no official word yet on how much of the fire had been contained, but that he was starting to hear some reports of cancelling extra resources.

Becker said the fire incident is now considered a Napa County fire, meaning that new reports would be coming from Cal Fire Napa.

He said it was initially thought to be in the Napa City limits, but later inspection showed it was actually in Napa County.

Napa City and Cal Fire firefighters are responding to the scene of a vegetation fire north of Coombsville Road and Jackson Lane.

The blaze broke out shortly after 1 p.m. today, according to a Cal Fire spokesman. It is burning on 2 to 3 acres, and it is within the Napa city limits.

"It is a Napa City fire, but we're providing mutual aid," said the Cal Fire spokesman.

A fire helicopter has reportedly been called, according to witnesses.

Firefighters are seeking to cut the fire off before it threatens homes in the Alta Heights neighborhood, according to witnesses.

An early fire season that started last week is being fueled by the hot temperatures, dry weather and winds.
