Napa State Patient Burned in Fire at County Jail

A patient was badly burned Wednesday in a fire at the , a sheriff's sergeant said.

The patient was airlifted to the University of California, Davis medical center to be treated for second- and third-degree burns to the hands, arms, abdomen and legs, sheriff's Sgt. Doug Pace said.

The sheriff's office received reports of a structure fire in the jail at about 7:35 p.m., he said.

Firefighters had put out the fire by about 8:30 p.m., but it is not clear at this time how the fire started or how much damage it caused, Pace said.

No other injuries were reported.
