Napa Police: Vehicle Owner Thwarts Would-Be Thief

Chuck Rothberg, 38, was arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft Wednesday night after the vehicle's owner said he caught Rothberg in the act, according to Napa police. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

A 38-year-old Napa man was jailed late Wednesday night after the owner of a motor vehicle accused him of trying to steal it, according to a shift activity log from the :

On 8-22-12 Police responded to the 100 block of Freeway Drive on report of an attempted vehicle theft. The Victim had the Suspect detained near the Victim’s vehicle. The Suspect was identified as Chuck Rothberg (38 year old Napa resident). The Victim identified the Suspect as being the person inside his vehicle. The steering column in the Victim’s vehicle was damaged and burglary tools were left inside.

Rothberg was booked into the on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft, police said. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
