Napa Police: Squatter Jailed After Office Trashed

Ryan Brown was arrested on outstanding warrants and a new charge of felony vandalism for allegedly vandalizing an office building on Clay Street, doing an estimated $5,000 worth of damage, according to Napa police.

 

A 21-year-old homeless man was jailed Sunday morning on suspicion of felony vandalism, trespassing and violation of probation, according a shift activity log released by the :

On 06/29/12, Napa PD Officers were alerted to a break in at the 400 Block of Clay St., an office building.

Officers found someone had moved an entire bed into the building and appeared to be living there. The office had been extensively vandalized.  

On 07/01/12, the property manager found a suspect inside the building. The suspect fled towards the Oxbow Preserve area.

Napa PD Officers responded and located a suspect in the Oxbow Preserve. 

The manager identified the suspect, 21 year old Napa transient Ryan Brown, as the suspect he had seen inside the office. 

The manager had also recognized Brown as someone he had caught trespassing in the office in April of this year.   

Brown had two active misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. One for domestic violence and one for trespassing.

The trespassing warrant was a result of Brown being arrested on 04/27/12 for trespassing at the same location. Brown is also on probation for domestic violence.  

The property manager estimated there was $5,000 in damage to the building. Brown was booked at for felony vandalism, trespassing and violating his probation.  

The incident leading to Brown's arrest Sunday began at 10:50 a.m., according to the police log. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
