UPDATE: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, 3 p.m.

Napa Police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who robbed the Umpqua Bank, 3271 Browns Valley Rd. earlier today.

The suspect is described as a male of unknown race, about 5'10", thin build, wearing a gray beenie, sunglasses, while long-sleeve button-down dhirt, and baggy blue jeans.

The suspect has a Band-aid on his right cheek, possibly covering a distinguishing mark.

According to a police report, the suspect entered Umpqua Bank, in the Browns Valley Shopping Center, wearing a beanie and sunglasses.

He made contact with one of the tellers by giving her a note that demanded money.

The clerk complied with the request and gave the male an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect walked out of the bank and headed westbound through the parking lot.

Once the male left the bank at approximately 10:55 a.m., an employee of Umpqua Bank notified Napa Central Dispatch regarding the robbery.

Police officers from Napa Police Department arrived on the scene at approximately 10:58 a.m. The bank was secured and an area check was conducted by numerous officers from the Napa Police Department, Napa Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol helicopter, and a Napa Sheriff’s Office K9.

The suspect has not been located at the time of this press release.

As a precautionary measure, Browns Valley Elementary School was locked down for approximately 20 minutes as officers searched the area for the suspect.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should call Detective Todd Shulman at (707) 257-9575.

Earlier this month, Novato Patch reported a robbery in the Umpqua Bank branch in that town. According to the article, that suspect was arrested.
