Police arrested two young Napa men on several charges after officers smelled “burnt marijuana,” according to a media log released Monday by the Napa Police Department:
On 5-1-11 at about 1704 hours, officers observed two subjects standing by an open car in the 7-11 Parking lot at First St and Matt Dr. They made consensual contact with the individuals, who were later identified as AYALA, MAURICIO FAVION 20 years Napa resident and LEON, ALEJANDRO 21 years Napa resident. A strong smell of burnt marijuana was noticed coming from the vehicle and the individuals. During a search of Ayala, he was found in possession of a deadly weapon. During a search of Leon, suspected ecstasy pills and concentrated cannabis were located. During a search of Ayala’s vehicle, marijuana packaged for sale; a scale; and other packaging was located as well as several partially smoked marijuana cigarettes. During a search of Leon’s vehicle, more concentrated cannabis and stolen jewelry from a prior residential burglary was located. Both subjects were arrested and booked without incident.
Ayala and Leon face charges of possession of a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana for sale and Ayala was additionally charged with a criminal street gang enhancement, according to the log.
