Napa Police: Wife Throws Rice at Husband, Husband Chokes Wife During Dinnertime Domestic Dispute

A Napa man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after an argument with his wife on Saturday night.   

According to Napa Police, Amilcar Gonzalez Escalante and his wife got into an argument about her cooking ability and their living situation around 9:18 p.m., on the 2400 block of Pacific Street.   

Police say the wife tossed a bowl of rice at him and Escalante then put his hands around his wife’s throat. She sustained minor scratch marks, according to the police report. Escalante was booked at the Napa County Detention Facility.   

Burglary arrest

Criminals know to leave the scene of a crime, but according to Napa Police, one suspected burglar stayed put for police to discover him early Saturday morning.
   
According to the Napa Police log, 20-year-old Dustin Wayne Dyer was allegedly going through the contents of a green Toyota when police arrived to investigate a burglary in progress. Dyer, according to report, pretended to be asleep in the vehicle – which had a broken right rear window – while dressed in a sweater lifted from the car.   

Dyer was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to jail.

Battery arrest

Napa Police arrested 29-year-old Sherelle Lanette Williams, of Vallejo, Saturday morning on suspicion of battery, drug possession and paraphernalia along with two outstanding warrants.   

Police responded to a report of a possible kidnapping that turned out to be unfounded at the Fairview Market on 1017 Coombsville Road. Williams was discovered to be intoxicated at the market and allegedly in possession of Vicodin without a prescription and a glass smoking pipe which had burnt residue in it.   

Drug arrest

Napa Police arrested 29-year-old Ignacio Barrera of Napa Saturday afternoon on suspicion of being under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance.   

Police were driving through a parking lot of an apartment complex on the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue. Police noticed Barrera standing near a vehicle and appearing nervous and having trouble standing still. According to the police report, Barrera gave officers permission to search him, and they found a small amount of crystal meth in a dollar bill on his person. The police report said two other bags of what appeared to be meth were located near him.   
 
In a separate incident, Napa Police arrested 19-year-old Edgar Rolando Barboza on suspicion of being a minor in possession of alcohol and a violation of his probation. Officers arrived at Barboza’s residence on Homewood Drive to conduct a probation search of Mendoza where they discovered him to be in possession of a variety of alcoholic beverages – including drinking a beer just before officers arrived – and later tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, according to police.
