Napa Police Log, July 28-30

Arrest information from the Napa Police Department does not indicate convictions.

A 23-year-old Napa man and two juveniles were arrested Thursday afternoon following a reported gang fight, according to a media log from the :

On 7/28/11 1630 hrs. NPD responded to a report of a gang fight in the area of Laurel / Freeway Dr. Witnesses identified the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene which was stopped by NPD near Fuller Park.

The vehicle was occupied by five subjects, one adult and four juveniles.

The adult driver, Jorge Sanchez, a 23-year-old Napa resident was identified by witnesses as being one of the subjects who participated in the fight where a single juvenile victim was repeatedly punched and kneed in the face by the suspects.

During the fight, gang slurs were yelled, police said. Sanchez admitted he had been in the fight and was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections for assault with a deadly weapon while participating in a criminal street gang, according to the log, which continues:

Two other juvenile subjects were also later contacted and admitted to being involved in the fight. They were both booked into Juvenile Hall on the same charges.

A 25-year-old Napa man was arrested after a probation search of his home in the 1900 block of Brown Street turned up “a glass smoking pipe and a small amount of suspected methamphetamine,” according to the log. Edward Dellagana was booked at the department of corrections for drug charges and violating probation, police said.

A 26-year-old Napa man was jailed for indecent exposure and kidnapping Saturday afternoon, according to the police log:

On 7-30-11 at about 1810 hours, the suspect, Aaron Benavidez, 8-22-84, exposed his genitals to a female subject at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Brown St.

During the investigation, it was learned that the same suspect had grabbed the same victim by the arm about 3 to 4 weeks ago and took her into the complex laundry room and forced her to her knees in front of him. The victim was able to get away at that time. 

Benavidez was arrested Sunday for both violations, police said.
