Napa Police Log: Domestic Terror on Oak Street; Tourist Arrested for Groping Hotel Worker

Despite a protective order for domestic violence, a Napa man kicked in the victim's back door, beat and strangled her and threatened to kill her, police say.

A Napa woman was beaten, strangled and hit with a hammer by a man against whom she had a protective order for domestic violence, according to the latest from the .

The prolonged attack took place on Feb. 17 after Christopher Lee Roberts, 28, kicked in the back door of the victim's home on Oak Street, according to the log:

On 2-18-11 @ 0009 hours, a female called 9-1-1 from a neighbor’s residence in the 2100 block of Oak Street to report the suspect had broken into her residence and assaulted her. The victim has a DV protective order against the suspect. The suspect entered the residence by kicking in the back door.

The suspect physically assaulted the victim and strangled her for an extended period, threatening to kill the victim several times. The victim was in sustained fear for her life. At some point during the assault the suspect struck the victim in the head with a hammer. The suspect fled the residence. 

The suspect is on felony probation for a narcotics offense. The victim suffered a laceration to the top of her head, abrasions to her face, neck, hands and back, contusions to her face and bruising. She was treated at .

A warrant was issued for the suspect on the above charges and after several conversations with the suspect, he agreed to turn himself in to Napa Police. On 2-22-11 at 2042 hours, Roberts turned himself in to Napa PD and was booked without further incident.

Roberts was booked at the for a string of felonies including robbery, burglary, domestic violence with serious injury, assalt with a deadly weapon other than a firearm with the likelihood of great bodily injury, false imprisonment with violence, threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, violating a court order to prevent domestic violence and violation of probation.                                                                                                              

Also in the media log, a tourist from Florida was arrested for sexual battery after an employee at his hotel reported he grabbed and groped her:

On 2-22-11 at about 2256 hours, an employee of , 1400 First St, reported being the victim of a sexual battery.  The victim advised the suspect, Mark Paige Riley, 11-29-60, Florida Resident, was a guest at the hotel.  The victim advised the suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed the victim in a “bear hug”. The suspect allegedly touched the victim in a sexual way while restraining the victim.  The victim was eventually able to break free.  The suspect was located the following morning in the hotel and interviewed.  Subsequently, the suspect was arrested and booked into NCDC.

Riley was booked on suspicion of felony sexual battery and misdemeanor battery, according to the log.
