Napa Police Investigate Coach Accused of Sex Crimes with a Minor

On 7/11/11, the Napa Police Department received information of a possible inappropriate relationship involving Christa Rene Tharp, age 33 of Napa and a juvenile victim.
It was discovered that Tharp met the victim while coaching a local youth softball team.

NPD Investigators interviewed the juvenile and Tharp and determined there was an ongoing sexual relationship between the two.
On 7/22/11, Tharp was arrested at the Napa Police Department for the above charges and booked at the .

“This is an ongoing investigation and may have additional victims. Therefore there is limited information being released at this time,” wrote Napa Police Sgt. Chase Haag in an email accompanying the press release.
Tharp faces charges of oral copulation with a person under 18 years old, contact with a minor with the intent to commit a sexual offense, annoying/molesting a child under 18 and sending harmful matter with the intent of seduction of a minor, according to police.
