Napa PD: Silverado Trail Checkpoint Catches 5 DUI
An Avoid the 9 campaign checkpoint at the Yountville Fish and Game Office screened 700 vehicles, and issued a number of citations and arrests.
The in conjunction with officers from CHP, and American Canyon, conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Saturday, July 2, 2011 as part of Napa County’s for public safety.
Today the Police Department released the results of that checkpoint, as follows:
- 700+ vehicles screened
- 5 DUI suspects arrested
- 1 illegal drug suspects arrested
- 8 citations issued
- 1 vehicle impounded for 30 days
- 7 unlicensed and suspended drivers sent to court
This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in the County of Napa.

The location of Saturday’s checkpoint was at the Yountville Fish and Game Office on Silverado Trail. The goal of the DUI Checkpoint is removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
