Napa PD: Man with Hatchets Jailed
The following arrest information was provided by the City of Napa Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A man carrying two hatchets and wearing a jacket spotted with blood was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. Monday for being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to a shift activity log released late Monday night by the Napa Police Department:
At 1903 hours, a subject called from the front of the PD to report that David Goforth, 3-5-57 was walking in the area of First and Franklin and was carrying a “sidearm” under his jacket. Units responded to the area and located Goforth on Second St. at School.
Goforth was ordered to the ground. He was compliant and cooperative. He was searched and found to be in possession of two hatchets that were not concealed, and no firearm.

Goforth was confused, somewhat incoherent, and paranoid. He claimed he needed the hatchets for protection.
After checking Goforths residence for any potential victims, he was booked at NCDC. The residence was checked due to the fact that Goforth had two small dried blood spots on his jacket. Nothing suspicious was found.
