Napa PD: Drunk Man Won’t Say Who Hit Him

A 56-year-old man refused to say who beat him up in downtown Napa Monday afternoon, according to a shift activity log provided by the .

At around 5:15 p.m., according to the log, police responded to a report of an assault in the 700 block of Main Street:

The victim, Stephan Coughlin, 7-2-54, was located at the scene, bleeding from a laceration on the bridge of his nose. He was intoxicated and stated that he had been hit by a car and provided a vague description.

A witness reported seeing an older HMA (Hispanic male adult) subject punch the victim in the head and stomach several times.

The victim was transported to where he admitted he lied about being hit by a car but refused to say what happened or identify a suspect.
