Napa Man Who Allegedly Had Meth Arrested During DUI Checkpoint

Napa County law enforcement officers arrested a man for suspected possession of methamphetamine during a DUI stop Sunday night, police said.

During a driving under the influence patrol police stopped a vehicle on Monroe and Laurel streets in Napa shortly before 10 p.m. and arrested Francisco Javier Zapien, who showed symptoms of drug and alcohol use, police said.

Zapien's two children were in the vehicle at the time, police said.

Zapien was booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections.

A total of seven people were arrested for symptoms of drug and alcohol use during the operation conducted by the Avoid the 9 Napa County DUI Task Force on Sunday, police said.

Two individuals were found driving with a suspended license, police said.

Law enforcement officers stopped a total of 43 vehicles during the operation from 9 p.m. until today at 2 a.m.
