Napa Man's Death was Homicide, Police Say

The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the killing of a 51-year-old Napa man found dead on Almond Avenue Friday afternoon, according to police.

The death of a 51-year-old Napa man Friday is being investigated as a homicide, according to a media release from the City of Napa Police Department:

On September 28, 2012 at approximately 4:13 PM, Napa Fire Department was dispatched to a medical emergency in the 100 block of Almond Ave.

Napa Fire personnel arrived on scene and determined the Mr. Ward was deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death were unusual.

Napa Police Investigators were summoned to the scene and determined the victim’s death was a result of homicide.

The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force (comprised of the Napa Police Department, Napa County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and the Napa County District Attorney’s Office) has taken over this investigation.

Investigators have and continue to conduct interviews of potential witnesses. These interviews have resulted in a person(s) of interest, who may be responsible for the death of Mr. Ward. Forensic Specialists are processing the scene for evidence at this time.
