Napa Man Arrested on Suspicion of Child Endangerment, Drug Possession and Outstanding Warrants

Napa police allege man had outstanding warrants for felony grand theft and possession of metal knuckles, a stun gun, stolen property, and a billy club.

A 42-year-old Napa man was arrested Wednesday after an officer saw him driving in the 2500 block of Old Sonoma Road in Napa and allegedly recognized him as having outstanding warrants.

Eric Roderick was taken into custody at 5:30 p.m. on suspion of the following felonies: transportation of a controlled substance, child endangerment, grand theft.

He was also booked on suspicion of multiple possession charges, including: billy club, metal knuckles, stun gun, drug paraphernalia and stolen property.

According to the police log, while on routine patrol, an alert Napa Police Officer saw a male he recognized as Eric Roderick driving a car in the 2500 block of Old Sonoma Road.

The officer knew Roderick had several outstanding warrants for his arrest, police said.

Additionally, the officer observed a mechanical violation on the car driven by Roderick.

The officer affected an enforcement stop, confirmed the outstanding warrants for Roderick's arrest and took him into custody.

At the time of arrest, Roderick had an acquaintance’s two small children in the car with him.

As the officer escorted Roderick to his patrol car, a bag containing approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine fell out of Roderick's pant leg.

A search of Roderick's person yielded two  more separately packaged quantities of alleged methamphetamine concealed in his clothing.

The total value of the seized methamphetamine was estimated at $1,000.
Officers released the two children to their father.

Roderick was transported to the Napa County Department of Corrections,  where he was booked on charges related to drug offenses, child endangerment, and outstanding arrest warrants.
