Napa Man Allegedly Carries Loaded Gun Near Vineyard Workers

Also, Sacramento woman arrested for alleged Home Depot robberies.

 

A 35-year-old Napa man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of carrying a loaded gun in public and resisting arrest.

Thomas Wade Van Scyoc was taken into custody at about 11:45 p.m. at a residence in the 1000 block of Borrette Lane in Napa.

The incident began when Napa police officers responded to the 1200 block of Partrick Road on a report of threats involving a firearm.

Police said Thomas Wade Van Scyoc confronted vineyard workers near his home, complaining about the noise.

One of the vineyard employees observed a hand gun in Van Scyoc's rear pants pocket.   

Officers contacted Van Scyoc, at his residence in the 1000 block of Borrette Lane.  As Van Scyoc talked with officers at the front door, he refused to be pat searched after a knife was seen in his front pants pocket, police said.

When officers questioned him about a gun, he became nervous and uncooperative, police said.

Officers attempted to secure Van Scyoc for a pat search. He resisted and a handgun was seen tucked in his rear pants pocket.

Van Scyoc was secured by officers and a loaded 45 Kimber semi-auto was removed from his pocket.

Van Scyoc was arrested for carrying the loaded firearm in public and for resisting officers.

He was transported and booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.

 A 31-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested Tuesday by Napa Police on suspicion of robbery from the Vacaville and Fairfield Home Depot stores and conspiracy.

Michelle May Fergerson, was taken into custody at about 1 p.m. at the Napa Home Depot store at 225 Soscol Ave.

Police said the incident began after receiving information from the Vacaville and Fairfield Home Depot stores that two females had entered their stores earlier in the day and allegedly stole concentrated Round Up.

Napa Home Depot Loss Prevention Officers observed Michelle Fergerson and another female adult placing several containers of concentrated Round Up in a shopping cart. 

The unidentified female accomplice left the store as Fergerson waited in line at the register.

Fergerson then exited the store with the merchandise without paying.  Upon exiting the store, Fergerson approached a waiting vehicle driven by the unidentified female; the rear door to the vehicle was open. 

Store Loss Prevention identified themselves and attempted to restrain Fergerson.  The vehicle driven by the unidentified female then sped away with the rear door open. 

Fergerson resisted The Loss Prevention Officer, striking him on the face.

Officers arrived and detained Fergerson. 

Fergerson allegedly admitted to the prior thefts in Vacaville and Fairfield earlier in the day.

 Fergerson was arrested, transported and booked into Napa County Department of Corrections.
