Napa County Search and Rescue Crew Aids in Search For Missing Hikers

A 38-year-old man was reported missing on the Pleasants Ridge Road trail in Solano County on Sunday.

Members of the Napa, Solano and Contra Costa County Search and Rescue teams helped in the search for a missing hiker on the Pleasants Ridge Road trail in northern Solano County on Sunday, according to a press release from the Solano County Sheriffs office.

Two men were hiking the trail when they got separated Sunday morning. Richard Kirby, 38, was reported missing at Noon. The Solano County Office of Emergency Services sent its volunteer search and rescue unit to Lake Solano Park, which became the search headquarters.

Search and rescue teams were assisted by CHP aircraft and dogs from the California Rescue Dog Association. Kirby was able to make radio contact with a search and rescue crew, and told them he was stuck in an entanglement of blackberry bushes next to Putah Creek. Once Yolo County Sheriffs rescuers reached him via a Zodiac inflatable boat, he was able to walk away on his power around midnight, and taken to the hospital for dehydration.
