Napa County Probationer Arrested for Bringing Gun to Vallejo Farmers' Market

A man on probation from Napa County was arrested for discarding a weapon near a farmers' market in Vallejo this afternoon, police said.

At about 1:30 p.m., police were conducting a security patrol at the farmers' market in the vicinity of Georgia and Marin streets.

While on patrol, officers spotted 28-year-old Vallejo resident Kevin Deeny discard a firearm in the vicinity of Hudson Alley and Sutter Street, police said.

Police took Deeny into custody and a records check revealed that he was a convicted felon on probation out of Napa County, police said.

Officers conducted a probation search of Deeny's residence and found a short-barreled rifle and a zip gun, along with ammunition, according to police.

Deeny was booked into Solano County Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, a zip gun and a short-barreled rifle.
