Meth Bust Reported Near Napa Police Shooting Site

The area where the chase began that ended in Sunday night's shooting of a 25-year-old Napa man by a police officer was the scene of an arrest Tuesday night involving a "large package of methamphetamine," according to Napa police.

 

Two nights to the hour after when a foot pursuit ended in a struggle in a south Napa backyard, a 59-year-old man was arrested on drug charges near where Sunday night's chase began, according to a shift activity log from the :

Officers assigned to a probation sweep made contact with a couple in a vehicle at Parrish Road and Imola Avenue.

The male, 59 year old Carl Bishoff was searched and found to have a large package of methamphetamine concealed on his person. 

The female was detained, but later released without arrest.

Parrish is the cross street for the convenience store at 1136 Imola Avenue, where police said the foot pursuit began just before 11 p.m. Monday that ended with the shooting of 25-year-old Luis Armando Contreras by officer Thomas Keener in a backyard in the 2100 block of Parrish.

Contreras was transferred from Queen of the Valley Medical Center to a hospital in Sonoma County where he was in a medically-induced coma but expected to survive, according to the , which is investigating the shooting.

Keener has been placed on administrative leave, standard Napa Police Department policy following an officer-involved shooting, said sheriff's Lieut. Tracey Stuart.

Bishoff's arrest came at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, according to police. He was booked at the on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, police said. 

Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
