Man Dies in Parking-Lot Crash

A man lost his life while driving his vehicle at the Home Depot Parking lot Saturday.

A man lost his life while driving in a popular Napa shopping center Saturday afternoon.

Napa Police went to the parking lot on 225 Soscol Avenue at 12:21 p.m., in response to a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle. Police discovered that the man's truck had collided with a tree within the parking lot.

Witnesses at the scene broke the vehicle’s window, pulled the driver out and performed CPR on him, according to police. The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, was taken to where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A Napa Police Department accident reconstruction team also went to the scene to investigate the cause of the wreck. Police are attempting to determine whether a medical event led to the collision or if alcohol played a role.
