Man Jailed for DUI After Chase, Police Say

The 22-year-old motorist's license had been suspended following a prior DUI, according to police. Arrest information from the Napa Police Department does not indicate a conviction.

A 22-year-old Napa man was jailed early Monday morning for driving under the influence, vehicle pursuit and driving with a suspended license, according to a shift activity log released by the :

On 10/31/11 about 0026 hours an NPD Officer attempted to make a vehicle stop on the suspect, Todd Sousa, 22 years old, of Napa, after the Officer observed him spin his tires in the intersection of Lincoln Avenue/Main Street.

The Officer observed other driving which led the Officer to believe (Sousa) was driving under the influence.

The Officer initiated a traffic stop and Sousa attempted to evade the officer in the vehicle.

During the pursuit, Sousa collided with a curb which caused a tire to go flat.

Sousa eventually pulled over in the 3400 block of Baxter Ave. and was arrested.

He displayed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and had a suspended driver’s license for a prior DUI conviction.

Sousa was booked at the , police said.
