Man Jailed After Taking Shirt, Napa Police Say

A New Year's Eve incident at Kohl's landed a Napa man in jail, police said. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

A Napa man was arrested at around 4:40 p.m. New Year's Eve on suspicion of burglary from Kohl's and violating probation, according to an arrest summary from the City of Napa Police Department:

Dion Gallegos (25 yrs. of Napa) was seen by a Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer taking a shirt and leaving the store without paying for it.

When the Loss Prevention Officer attempted to contact him, Gallegos got into the passenger seat of a truck and it drove away.

An officer located the truck on Clay St. at Seminary Street and stopped the vehicle. The officer contacted Gallegos, who matched the description given by Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the officer finding the stolen shirt. A records check showed Gallegos is on four (4) separate terms of probation. He was arrested  and transported to Napa County Department of Corrections, where he was booked.

There was no evidence that the driver of the truck assisted Gallegos in the theft. The driver was allowed to leave.
