Napa police have declared the area a crime scene. Highway 29 southbound has been closed and traffic is being re-routed onto Highway 121 toward Carneros Highway.

By 9 a.m., according to photographer Robert Peebles, Jr., southbound traffic on 29 was backed up from the Sonoma exit to Imola Avenue and growing worse, while northbound traffic was also beginning to slow.
