Child, 3, Hurt, Driver Jailed in Napa Hit-Run

A 3-year-old Napa child was treated at the Queen for contusions and abrasions after being hit by a vehicle in the street Wednesday afternoon. The driver fled, but police caught up with the suspect a couple of hours later, according to the log.

 

A 32-year-old Napa man was arrested late Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of hit and run after a 3-year-old child was struck by a car at about 2:40 p.m., according to a shift activity log from the :

At the scene it was alleged that a 3 yr old child was in the roadway and was struck by a vehicle and the vehicle then fled the scene.

Based upon investigative leads developed by the responding officers a suspect, Ezzard Charles Jackson (1/18/80) of Napa, was located at an apartment complex in the 100 Block of Freeway Dr at appox 1650 hrs.

He was confirmed to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision and was arrested and booked into . 

In other police news, a 30-year-old employee of a business on Old Sonoma Road was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury after punching one of his employers, according to a police log entry:

Officers were dispatched to 2770 Old Sonoma for a battery between a co-owner and employee. 

The employee, Jose Manuel Hurtado 11-2-82, Napa Resident, battered the victim by punching him in the face and causing him to fall, injuring his shoulder. 

The victim sought medical attention with a doctor.

Hurtado was located and arrested without incident. 

Arrest information does not indicate convictions.
