Grass Fire Contained in Browns Valley

The grass fire at the edge of Westwood Hills Park broke out shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday and burned about a half an acre of vegetation, damaging a fence behind an apartment complex. Firefighters are investigating the cause.

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Napa City Fire Department and CalFire responded to a grass fire at the edge of Westwood Hills Park, behind the Charter Oaks apartments on Browns Valley Road.

Firefighters contained the fire to half an acre of grass and blackberry bushes. There was damage to garden fence in the back of the apartments and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said.
