Good Ol' Meth-Hidden-In-Pant-Leg Trick Failed; Couple's Spat Escalates to $7K of Vandalism

A 29-year-old Napa man was a passenger in a vehicle stopped this week along 1600 Silverado Trail for a vehicle code violation, according to police.

A records check of the man, Kurt Johnson, aka Kurt Garrett and Kurt Daniel, showed he was on searchable probation, and during the subsequent search by officers, a clear plastic container containing suspected methamphetamine fell from his pant leg onto the ground, said the Napa Police Department.

Johnson was arrested Tuesday at 8 a.m. for alleged possession of a controlled substance, committing a felony while on bail/probation and a probation violation, police said.

In a separate case on Thursday at 4 p.m., a 911 hang-up call from the 3300 block of Sunview Drive, led officers to arrest a Napa man, 47, for suspicion of felony vandalism and a probation violation.

Officers went to the residence and spoke with a female victim, who said she was arguing with Thomas Slaight over his refusal to get rid of his pellet gun, police said.

The argument continued in the kitchen when the woman asked Slaight about a cabinet that was not shutting properly. The woman told officers that Slaight walked up and kicked and damaged the cabinet, then began punching and kicking walls and doors throughout the house, police said.

He then went outside and kicked and caused major damage to the female's vehicles, police said.

As the victim called the police, Slaight walked off, but was found by police and arrested.

Estimated damages for the vandalism are approximately $7,000, police said.
