Fugitive Wanted for Murder Found, Arrested in Sonoma

A Pinole man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the unincorporated community of Tara Hills near San Pablo last month, a sheriff's spokesman said today.

The U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested fugitive Michael McQueen, 28, in Sonoma on Wednesday afternoon for allegedly shooting and killing 24-year-old Nicholas Callen on March 31, according to Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee.

McQueen was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and was taken to county jail in Martinez, where he is being held on $1 million bail.

His arrest came weeks after he allegedly shot and killed Callen, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound at a home in the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive in Tara Hills, according to Lee.

Anyone with additional information about the homicide is asked to call the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office at (925) 313-2600. Anonymous tips may be provided at (866) 846-3592 or via email at tips@so.cccounty.us.
