Robbery Try at Taco Truck Reported

He claimed to have a gun and tried to rob a food truck, according to Napa police. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

A 53-year-old Novato man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of attempted robbery and public drunkenness after he reportedly tried to rob a food truck at a central Napa intersection, according to a shift activity log from the :

On 04/11/12 about 2135 hours NPD Officers were dispatched to the area of Lincoln Avenue/Jefferson Street regarding a disturbance.

The reporting party indicated there was an intoxicated male in the area who stated he had a gun.

NPD Officers arrived in the area and detained the suspect, John McLaughlin, 53 years old of Novato.

During the investigation, the victim who worked in a Taco Truck in the area was contacted.

The victim reported McLaughlin approached him in the Taco Truck, demanded money from him and told him that he had a gun.

The victim never saw a gun and did not give McLaughlin any money. McLaughlin was not in possession of a gun and no other evidence was developed which corroborated he had a gun.

NPD Officers determined McLaughlin was highly intoxicated. He was placed under arrest for public intoxication and attempted robbery.

McLaughlin was booked at the , police said. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
