Firefighters Rescue Two from Creek

An elderly man who slipped down an embankment, and his son who came to his aid, were pulled from Redwood Creek Monday afternoon.

An elderly Napa man and his son were pulled from the water of Redwood Creek behind the 2600 block of West Pueblo Avenue shortly after noon Monday by firefighters from Napa Fire Station #3.

Acting station chief Dan D'Angelo said the older man, who is approximately 70 and has a history of dementia, slipped down an embankment into the creek.

His son then "went down there to help," and also became stuck in the creek, D'Angelo continued.

"They required us to rescue them from the water," he said.

Redwood Creek has been running heavy and fast with water from recent rains, but D'Angelo said the two men were "safe up against the bank" as firefighters trimmed some tree branches to reach them.
