Firefighters Contain 2 Wildfires Near Napa/Sonoma County Line

Two small wildfires that sparked just after 3 p.m. today have been contained near the Napa/Sonoma county line along Highway 121/12, Cal Fire communications officer Michael Selmi said.

Still burning and sending smoke in the area is a 5-acre fire in Sonoma County at Arnold and Fremont, Selmi said. That blaze started at 3:06 p.m. Even though it was still burning at 6 p.m., Selmi said it has been contained.

A quarter-acre fire right at the Napa-Sonoma county line was reported at 3:47 p.m and fully extinguished at about 5:45 p.m, Selmi said.

"We're just mopping up over on that one," he added.

Selmi the causes of both fires was still under investigation.

Responding to both calls were units from Sonoma and Napa county fire departments and Cal Fire.
