Update: House "Engulfed" by Fire

Firefighters were unable to save the structure, according to the Napa Valley Register.

3:45 p.m.: The house was "fully engulfed" by fire, according to a report on the website.

Nearby homes have been evacuated and an ambulance is standing by, the newspaper said.

Earlier: Napa firefighters have issued a second alarm for a house fire in the 3100 block of Linda Vista Avenue, according to photographer Robert Peebles, Jr., who is at the scene of the blaze this afternoon.

It was not clear whether anyone was at home in the burning residence, where a car is parked in the driveway, Peebles said at about 3:20 p.m.

He said the heat of the blaze was so intense it was burning vegetation in the backyard of the home.
