Fire Destroys Home, Kills Dog
The home's occupants escaped, but the family pet lost its life.
A house fire on Green Valley Road sent smoke billowing into the sky over rural Napa's southeastern hills Saturday morning, destroying the home and killing the family dog.
The residents of the house escaped without injury from the fire, which was reported around 9:30 a.m.
Crews from CalFire, the city and county of Napa and several neighboring agencies and volunteer departments found the house fully ablaze when they arrived; by 11 a.m. the fire had been controlled.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, CalFire officials said.
