Fire Damage Estimated at $500,000

that destroyed a rural home and killed a family dog Saturday morning is estimated to have caused about $500,000 worth of damage, according to the Napa County Fire Department.

The fire on the 1100 block of Green Valley Road in unincorporated Napa County east of Napa was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to fire officials. The house was fully ablaze when fire crews arrived.

A total of 25 personnel from multiple agencies responded to the fire, bringing nine fire engines and water tenders and two battalion chiefs. Firefighters remained at the scene throughout the day and evening

There were no injuries, but the family dog died in the fire. The Red Cross and the Sheriff's Office chaplain were called to the scene to assist the residents of the rented home.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
